PRP Facial Treatment, Back to 30, SC

What is PRP?

PRP is often recommended to address facial lines, including crow's feet and smile lines.

During the procedure, a member of our team will draw a small amount of blood from your arm. After centrifuging the sample to separate the platelets from the other components of the blood, we can apply the platelet sample to the surface of your skin. The old nickname comes both from the rejuvenating quality of the treatment and its use of blood.

Benefits of PRP

In addition to its minimal invasiveness, a PRP offers clients:

  • Minimal Downtime: Although you may experience redness and swelling after the procedure, these effects usually fade within the next day or two.
  • Minimal Discomfort: Most clients notice negligible sensation during the procedure. Unlike a facelift, a PRP facial does not require incisions or stitches.
  • Minimal Risks: As the procedure uses natural substances found in your own blood, there is no risk of an allergic reaction.
  • Fast Results: The effects of your procedure will be visible over the next two weeks as new skin growth occurs.

Because the platelets in our blood contain growth factors, this procedure encourages collagen growth, cellular growth, and skin rejuvenation. A study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information found that the use of PRP was particularly effective for skin rejuvenation.

Am I a Candidate?

A PRP treatment is a great alternative to a facelift because it can help you address similar areas of concern without surgery. We often recommend the procedure for clients hoping to address:

  • Frown lines
  • Crow's feet
  • Lines between the brows
  • Jowls or sagging cheeks
  • Unevenly toned or textured skin
  • Hollowing underneath the eyes

A PRP treatment is effective on its own or in conjunction with other skin care services, such as Microneedling or IPL.

What Can I Expect at My Appointment?

To minimize any discomfort, we will begin the visit by applying a numbing cream to your face. One of our skin care specialists will then draw blood from your arm. Depending on the current condition of your skin and the extent of the areas we are treating, we will typically remove no more than 10 teaspoons of blood.

After separating the platelets from the other fluids in a centrifuge, the yellow-colored platelets are topically applied to your skin. Using microneedling to access your skin where the treatment will be most effective, we will then reapply the yellow platelets to the entire surface of your face.

Combining With Other Treatments

A PRP treatment is effective on its own or in conjunction with other skin care services, such as Botox® or IPL. During your consultation, we can recommend which treatments are right for you and design a personalized treatment plan.
